Controversial Nigerian street-hop artiste, Portable, has recounted how he narrowly escaped a car accident after his vehicle reportedly suffered brake failure in Ogun State.

The singer, whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola, shared videos of the incident on his Instagram story on Thursday night, revealing that he had to steer his car into a roadside ditch to avoid colliding with another vehicle.

According to Portable, the accident happened along his regular route within his neighbourhood when he suddenly realised the brakes were no longer responding.

In the video, the singer thanked God for sparing his life, stressing that he came out of the incident without injuries and with little damage to his vehicle.

He explained that he acted quickly to avoid a more serious tragedy, especially as heavy-duty trucks frequently use the road. Portable added that he was fortunate no trailer was approaching at the exact moment the brake failed.

The singer also used the opportunity to call on the government to repair the road in the area, describing it as dangerous for motorists.

Portable disclosed that the incident occurred barely 24 hours before the naming ceremony of his newborn son, Fijabi. He revealed that preparations for the celebration were already in full swing, including the purchase of two cows for the event.

The child was welcomed with his wife, Bewaji, shortly after Portable’s celebrity boxing clash with Carter Efe on May 1.

Ahead of the naming ceremony, the singer had already generated attention online after sharing free Ankara aso ebi materials with fans and well-wishers.
