The Tambuwal APC defection rumours circulating on social media are false, according to the media office of former Sokoto State Governor and Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
In a statement signed by Prince Daniel, his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Tambuwal’s camp dismissed claims that the senator was preparing to leave the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The statement insisted that Tambuwal had no plans to join the ruling party. It described the reports as baseless and urged the public to disregard them.
Tambuwal APC Defection Claims Dismissed
Tambuwal’s media office said photographs and video clips circulating online do not prove that the senator intends to change political parties.
According to the statement, Tambuwal maintains friendships and political relationships across party lines because of his years in public service.
His media team warned against interpreting such interactions as evidence of a planned defection.
It also stressed that exchanging greetings or meeting politicians from another party does not mean a politician is negotiating a change of allegiance.
Tambuwal Reaffirms Commitment to ADC Ahead of 2027
The statement said Tambuwal remains committed to the ADC and is focused on strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
It added that he intends to build wider cooperation and mobilise Nigerians around the party’s political activities.
His media office also urged Nigerians to focus on the country’s economic, security and governance challenges rather than unverified political speculation.
The statement said public discussions should be guided by facts and credible information, especially as political activities gather pace ahead of the next general elections.
Media Outlets Urged to Verify Reports
Tambuwal’s camp called on media organisations and social media commentators to confirm claims with the AWT Media Office before publishing them.
It warned that speculation should not be presented as established fact.
The statement further said Tambuwal remains committed to accountable leadership, democratic values and the welfare of Nigerians.
For now, the Tambuwal APC defection reports have been rejected by his media team, which maintains that the senator remains in the ADC.
