Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, has called on the Federal Government and South-West governors to approve the launch of the proposed “Iru Ekun Security Network” to combat rising insecurity across Yorubaland.
His appeal follows the recent abduction of pupils and teachers at Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle, in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, as well as the killing of a teacher, Michael Oyedokun, during the attack.
Speaking on Tuesday evening, Igboho said all arrangements for the security outfit had already been concluded and that the initiative was designed to tackle kidnapping, banditry and violent attacks allegedly linked to criminal elements hiding in forests across the South-West.
According to him, the operation is only awaiting official approval from the Federal Government, South-West governors and security agencies before it can begin.
Igboho expressed sympathy to the families affected by the school attack, especially the parents of the abducted pupils and relatives of the slain victims.
He stressed that insecurity in rural communities across the South-West and parts of Kwara State had reached an alarming level, insisting that urgent action was needed to restore peace and public confidence.
The activist stated that members of the proposed security network were fully prepared to enter forests and confront kidnappers, bandits and rogue herders responsible for attacks in the region.
He also urged traditional rulers in Yorubaland to support the initiative by encouraging government authorities to grant immediate approval for the Iru Ekun Security Network to commence operations.
