A tense moment unfolded at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday when activist Omoyele Sowore openly challenged former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, during a court session.

The incident, which has since gone viral online, captured Sowore criticizing Malami over his ongoing legal troubles. He drew comparisons between Malami’s current situation and his tenure under former President Muhammadu Buhari, accusing him of ignoring warnings about flaws in Nigeria’s justice system.

Sowore remarked that Malami was now experiencing the same system he once defended, stating that earlier concerns about injustice had been dismissed. He also extended an unusual gesture by offering Malami an orange beret, symbolizing his Revolution Now movement, and invited him to join.

Despite the confrontation, Sowore acknowledged Malami’s calm demeanor, noting his resilience even amid the circumstances. He reiterated his stance against political elites, insisting that his movement would continue to resist what he described as oppression within the system.

In response, Malami remained composed, expressing confidence in his legal position. He stated that he had been consistently attending court proceedings and would continue to do so while maintaining his strength.

Malami is currently facing legal action initiated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Department of State Services. The charges against him include allegations of money laundering, illegal possession of firearms, and unlawful acquisition of assets.
