Nigeria on the verge of becoming a failed state — Afenifere

by Salami Azeez

The Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has said that Nigeria is on the verge of becoming a failed state. In a statement on Monday by the new National Publicity Secretary of the organisation, Jare Ajayi, the group restated its call for the restructuring of the country to curb insecurity and other challenges facing the country.

The group noted that only restructuring and entrenchment of true federalism would save the country from becoming a failed state.

Ajayi said the group said it would pursue the restructuring agenda with doggedness and steadfastness to rescue the nation from the near precipice.

He added that from its formation 70 years ago, Afenifere has always agitated for true federalism.

Ajayi noted that state security agencies like Amotekun etc. must also be strengthened and be given powers to operate like State Police.
