Covid-19: Edo Govt. relaxes curfew as normalcy returns to state

The Edo State Government has announced a review of the curfew in the state to now last from 12 midnight to 5 am daily as part of measures to curtail the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the state.

Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu who is the chairman of the technical sub-committee of the state COVID-19 taskforce made this announcement while briefing journalists in the Government House, Benin City of the progress made so far in the fight against the pandemic.

He said the review is coming on the heels of the recent drop in the positive cases which has drastically reduced from twenty three point one percent to one percent while the state fatality rate has been relatively stable with active cases steadily reducing.

Shaibu noted that the state government has intensified the rollout of vaccination to eligible members of the public against the deadly virus with over 16, 000 persons vaccinated within the first eight days of the vaccine rollout.
