The investigation follows a petition submitted by the Osun State Government to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) regarding alleged mismanagement of funds allocated for the renovation of Primary Healthcare Centres. Mohammed revealed that officials from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) handed the letter to Adeleke as he was leaving a radio station in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
The invitation, which was issued on Monday, was confirmed by Adeleke’s media aide, Kazeem Mohammed, who stated that the former commissioner would soon comply with the request. He also clarified that Adeleke was not arrested, dispelling rumors circulating on social media.
The petition named several members of the Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC), including Adeleke, whose companies were allegedly awarded contracts for the renovation projects. Adeleke further accused the current administration under Governor Ademola Adeleke of targeting him due to his role in exposing alleged infractions committed by the government.
In his response, Adeleke denied any wrongdoing, asserting that he had resigned from the company mentioned in the petition prior to the awarding of the contracts. Speaking on a radio program on Monday, Adeleke addressed the ICPC invitation and expressed his willingness to cooperate with the investigation. Mohammed reiterated that the situation was under control and urged the public not to be alarmed.
