Sanwo-Olu Joins Troost-Ekong Foundation Charity Match, Commends Initiative for Empowering Youth
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Sunday participated in the Troost-Ekong Foundation Charity Match held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, showing off some of his football skills during the event.
The charity match, themed #PlayForPurpose, is an initiative led by Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong, aimed at harnessing the power of football to uplift underprivileged children and create meaningful opportunities in disadvantaged communities.
Speaking at the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to using sports as a catalyst for youth empowerment, social development, and positive community impact.
> “As Governor, I remain committed to investing in sports not just as recreation, but as a tool for youth empowerment and social transformation,” he said.
He also lauded the efforts of the Troost-Ekong Foundation for leading with “heart and purpose” and using their platform to drive change through sport.
> “Well done to William and the Troost-Ekong Foundation for this impactful initiative,” he added.
The event drew football lovers, celebrities, and supporters from across the state, all united by a shared commitment to giving back through the game.
