The convoy of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was reportedly stopped by a group of suspected thugs while attempting to enter Benue State on Tuesday.
The incident occurred along Boko Road, where the group allegedly took over the road and prevented Obi’s convoy from proceeding into the state.
Eyewitness accounts cited by local reports said the suspected thugs were carrying sticks as they blocked the route being used by the former Anambra State governor and his team.
The development disrupted Obi’s movement into Benue, although details surrounding what triggered the confrontation remained unclear as of press time.
