An IKEDC worker was rescued after suffering an electric shock while reportedly working on a power pole at Gbagada Bus Stop in Lagos State.
The incident occurred on Thursday, September 3, causing panic among commuters and residents as fellow workers began efforts to bring the technician down from the elevated ladder.
A video circulating online showed two IKEDC field workers attempting to safely lower their colleague from the power pole.
The worker appeared trapped on the ladder, with his head facing downward and part of his body constrained. He could still be seen moving as his colleagues worked to rescue him.
An eyewitness heard in the video said the technician had been shocked but was not dead.
“This is Gbagada Bus Stop. This incident just happened now. Light just shocked the guy; he is a NEPA guy. Now they’re trying to bring him down; he’s not dead,” the eyewitness said.
IKEDC yet to comment
Concerned bystanders gathered around the base of the pole as the rescue operation continued.
The worker was eventually brought down by his colleagues.
However, his exact medical condition was not immediately known at the time of filing the report.
Ikeja Electric Plc had yet to issue an official statement on the incident, while calls to its official lines were reportedly not answered or returned.
