Hafsat Kutama appointment as acting PCACC chairperson
Barrister Hafsat Ada’u Kutama has been appointed acting chairperson of Kano State’s PCACC.

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has appointed Barrister Hafsat Ada’u Kutama as the acting chairperson of the state’s Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC).

The Hafsat Kutama appointment comes shortly after the reported resignation of the commission’s chairman, Saidu Yahaya, on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

Kutama, who previously served as the Secretary of the PCACC, will now oversee the commission responsible for handling public complaints and anti-corruption matters in the state.

The governor’s decision was made public on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Social Media, Ibrahim Adam, through his verified social media account.

Adam said, “His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has appointed Barr. Hafsat Ada’u Kutama, as the Acting Chairperson of the Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), Kano State.”

He also confirmed that Kutama had previously served as secretary of the commission.

The Hafsat Kutama appointment followed Yahaya’s reported exit from the leadership position. Yahaya was appointed PCACC chairman in August 2025 after the tenure of the commission’s former chairman, Muhuyi Rimin Gado, came to an end.

With her new role, Kutama becomes the latest official to lead the Kano State anti-corruption agency, although her appointment is currently in an acting capacity.

The development places the commission under new leadership as it continues its mandate of addressing public complaints and corruption-related issues across Kano State.
