Former Super Eagles striker Michael Eneramo has passed away at the age of 40 after collapsing during a football game in Kaduna State.
The incident reportedly occurred at the Angwan Yelwa pitch in the Television area of Kaduna, where Eneramo was participating in a match. He had entered the game as a second-half substitute before suddenly slumping without any physical contact.
According to a witness, attempts to revive him at the scene were unsuccessful, and he was later confirmed dead at a hospital.
Eneramo, who had retired from professional football, enjoyed a career that saw him play for clubs such as Beşiktaş in Turkey, Tunisian giants Espérance, and Nigeria’s Lobi Stars. After hanging up his boots, he was said to be actively involved in nurturing young talent through a football academy.
The official Super Eagles X (formerly Twitter) account paid tribute to the late striker, sharing his photo alongside a brief message honoring his memory.
