A shocking relationship split has put billionaire Elon Musk in the spotlight after Shivon Zilis said he ended their relationship with “no warning.”
Zilis, a Neuralink executive and mother of four of Musk’s children, announced the breakup on X on October 2.
The development came just days after the pair exchanged affectionate messages.
In a screenshot shared by Zilis, she told Musk, “Love you very much.” Musk replied, “Love you too” on September 24.

Zilis said the sudden end of the relationship was difficult for her.
She described the transition from being in love to being let go as happening within a week.
She also said the breakup came without warning.
Despite the pain, Zilis spoke warmly about the years she spent with Musk.
She said she was grateful for the chance to make him feel understood, loved and supported.
Zilis also said she would miss him dearly.
Elon Musk shares four children with Zilis
Musk and Zilis have four children together.
The couple welcomed twins, Strider and Azure, in 2021.
They later had Arcadia in 2024.
Their fourth child, Seldon Lycurgus, arrived in 2025.
Zilis referred to the children as “four beautiful little loves” in her breakup message.
She also expressed hope that she and Musk could remain friends and co-parents.
“I’m hurting, but care deeply about E and will always be cheering for his happiness,” she wrote.
Musk has not explained the breakup
The circumstances behind the sudden split remain unclear.
Musk has not publicly explained why the relationship ended.
Zilis also did not identify a specific disagreement or incident that led to the breakup.
Her comments remain the main public account of how the separation happened.
The situation attracted attention after Musk unfollowed Zilis on X.
Zilis later addressed the relationship publicly instead of allowing speculation to continue.

Musk and Zilis kept much of their relationship away from public attention.
Zilis previously worked at Tesla before moving to Neuralink, where she remains an executive.
Their family became publicly known after the birth of their twins in 2021.
The couple later welcomed two more children.
Zilis’ latest statement suggests that, despite the breakup, she wants to maintain a positive relationship with Musk for the sake of their children.
For now, the billionaire has not publicly responded to her account of the sudden split.
