Eedris Abdulkareem, the Nigerian rapper, on Thursday confirmed a GoFundMe account created on his behalf by friends to facilitate his kidney transplant.
And as at press time, the fundraiser, which targets £48,000, had already garnered £2,419 (N1,173,700) from 84 donors.
The rapper disclosed this in an Instagram post on Thursday, saying that he authorised the creation of the GoFundMe after persuasion from his fans and friends.
The ‘Jaga Jaga’ crooner was recently diagnosed with kidney failure and is currently undergoing dialysis.
Abdulkareem is expected to undergo a kidney transplant on July 27.
The rapper’s wife, Yetunde, it was earlier reported, woulf be his kidney donor.
Abdulkareem also said he felt “better, strong and agile in body and soul” ahead of the surgery just as he appreciated his fans, friends and family members for their support.
Wrote Abdulkareem: “Firstly, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to you all for the unalloyed love and care you have shown me since this sad news broke. I sincerely appreciate and love you all for this outpouring of genuine love and care.
