The Dangote Group has strongly refuted reports alleging a disagreement between its President, Aliko Dangote, and fellow business leader Tony Elumelu, describing the claims as false and misleading.

In an official statement signed by its Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, the company clarified that neither Dangote nor the organisation made any comments suggesting a fallout or distancing between the two prominent entrepreneurs. It stressed that the publication in question misrepresented both personal and corporate positions.

The Group also addressed claims regarding the financing of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, rejecting assertions that the project was funded through personal loans from friends. According to the statement, such allegations are inaccurate and distort the facts surrounding the refinery’s development.

It reaffirmed that Dangote does not rely on informal personal borrowing to fund major projects and challenged anyone making such claims to provide credible evidence.

Furthermore, the company emphasised that there is no strain in the relationship between Dangote and Elumelu, noting that both men continue to share a cordial and longstanding professional rapport.

The statement also raised alarm over the increasing spread of false information, particularly the unauthorised use of Dangote’s identity in AI-generated advertisements and misleading content. It warned that such actions could damage reputations and may amount to fraud.

Dangote Group urged individuals and platforms responsible for circulating such content to cease immediately, adding that it is prepared to take legal steps where necessary to safeguard its image and leadership.

Reaffirming its mission, the Group stated it remains committed to promoting industrial growth, economic independence, and sustainable development across Africa.
