Covenant University tops UNILAG and UI in global varsity rankings.

In the most recent 2023 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, is ranked higher than the Universities of Ibadan and Lagos.
Looking at the ranking criteria reveals that Covenant is now ranked 562 internationally and is topping all Nigerian universities in Research.

According to a statement from the university, Covenant University outperformed the Universities of Ibadan and Lagos in terms of research engagement, scoring 24.8 to 21.8 and 14.0 to 14.0, respectively.

Speaking about the achievement, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abiodun Adebayo, said that the research was one of the university’s top priorities. He added that with the board of regents’ active support, the university would continue to provide the necessary support to faculty, staff, and students with sincere and significant research ideas in order to conduct high-quality and ground-breaking research.

“Covenant University has supported numerous conferences and publications and has given research grants to the tune of hundreds of millions of naira in support of this. The university has been supporting the publication of articles by faculty members in high-impact journals in millions of foreign currencies over the years,” Adebayo said.

According to him, over 20 members of faculty and staff have won numerous grants in the last two years.

He clarified that the administration of the university is dedicated to funding research and education, to expanding the boundaries of knowledge, and to tackling regional problems from a global viewpoint.

Adebayo said that Covenant received numerous sizable research grants in addition to money from the University’s proprietor base.
