Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the appointment of Professor Badejo Ayodeji Olawumi as the new Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo.
The Badejo LASU Vice-Chancellor appointment was made public on Wednesday by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.
Professor Badejo, formerly known as Faji, is a scholar in Guidance and Counselling and was born on August 4, 1962.
She earned both her doctorate and Master of Education degrees in Guidance and Counselling from the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
Her appointment comes after the completion of the five-year tenure of Professor Ibijoke Olatunji-Bello, who has now stepped down from the university’s top administrative position.
The new vice-chancellor is expected to take charge of the institution as LASU begins a new leadership phase following the conclusion of her predecessor’s tenure.
In announcing the decision, the Lagos State Government described Professor Badejo as a Professor of Guidance and Counselling with academic qualifications from the University of Lagos.
The government also confirmed that her appointment followed the expiration of Olatunji-Bello’s five-year term.
The development marks a change in leadership at one of Lagos State’s major public universities, with Professor Badejo now set to lead the institution as its new vice-chancellor.
