The All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), in partnership with the African Union (AU), has taken another major step towards its landmark AFRIMA 10th Edition with the unveiling of its official global calendar in Los Angeles, California, United States.

The calendar was unveiled on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, during an event that brought together personalities from the creative sector, including artistes, actors, investors, policymakers, media executives and members of the African diaspora.

The programme also featured the AFRIMA Creative Industry Roundtable and Stakeholders Conference, themed “Catalyst for Collaboration & Investment in the Global Creative Industry.”

Discussions at the conference centred on strengthening partnerships, attracting investment and creating greater international support for Africa’s rapidly expanding creative economy.

The Los Angeles engagement represents another stage in AFRIMA’s efforts to connect African music and creative talent with audiences and opportunities around the world. The awards platform is broadcast across more than 84 countries, reaching millions of viewers globally.

The journey towards the AFRIMA 10th Edition has already included engagements across several major African cultural and creative centres under the RoadTo10thAFRIMA initiative.

Earlier activities were held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire; and Rabat and Casablanca in Morocco. The engagements brought together industry stakeholders and helped build momentum ahead of the milestone edition.

AFRIMA’s calendar unveiling tradition has previously taken the organisation to several African locations, including The Gambia, Ghana, South Africa, Dakar in Senegal, Lagos in Nigeria and the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Beyond announcing upcoming activities, these engagements have enabled AFRIMA to interact with government officials, music industry professionals and creative communities while expanding its partnerships across the continent.

The main AFRIMA awards ceremonies have similarly been hosted in major African cities such as Lagos, Accra and Dakar, highlighting the platform’s pan-African identity and its ambition to promote African music internationally.

The choice of Los Angeles for the latest engagement carries particular significance because the California city is widely recognised as a major global entertainment centre and is home to a sizeable African diaspora community.

Speaking ahead of the event, AFRIMA Associate Co-Producer and North American representative on the International Jury, Ms. Hadja Kobele, said the programme would provide an opportunity to strengthen links between African creatives and the diaspora.

According to her, the North American African diaspora can contribute to the expansion of African music by helping artists access new markets, partnerships and international opportunities.

AFRIMA Associate Producer Ms. Victoria Nkong also explained that the stakeholders’ conference was designed to achieve more than simply announcing the awards calendar.

She said the discussions would focus on practical opportunities for collaboration, investment and knowledge-sharing capable of supporting sustainable growth across Africa’s creative sector.

With the global calendar now unveiled, artistes, nominees, partners, industry stakeholders and fans will have a clearer understanding of the activities and milestones leading to the AFRIMA 10th Edition and its main awards ceremonies.
