On February 15, 2025, a letter signed by the Deputy Registrar, Achiuwa F.C. (Mrs.), on behalf of the Registrar, confirmed the suspension of Mr. Chigozie Jude Odum, a lecturer in the Department of Archaeology and Tourism at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The suspension follows allegations that Odum impregnated four female students within four years of his appointment.

As part of the suspension, the university has directed Odum to refrain from reporting to his duty post. This action reflects the university’s dedication to maintaining a safe and respectful academic environment. The investigation into the allegations is still ongoing, and further steps will be taken depending on the results. Additionally, the bursar has been instructed to place Odum on half salary while the investigation proceeds.
