A recent report reveals that Tems has joined the MLS as a co-owner through a company called The Leading Vibe.
Temilade Openiyi, known professionally as Tems and a Grammy Award-winning artist, has become a co-owner of the San Diego FC’s ownership group as a club partner.
Sir Mohamed Mansour, Chairman of SDFC, expressed excitement about Tems’ new role: “We are thrilled to welcome Tems to the San Diego FC ownership group. Her passion for empowering the next generation perfectly aligns with our mission. Her dedication to creating opportunities for young talent, both locally and globally, embodies the core values of Right to Dream. We look forward to fostering meaningful connections between the music industry and San Diego FC, uniting communities through the shared power of culture and sport.”
Tems, who has earned two Grammy Awards—one for Best African Music Performance with her hit “Love Me JeJe”—and received Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for “Lift Me Up,” the lead single from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, has become a global ambassador for African music and culture.
Sharing her excitement, Tems said, “I am thrilled to join San Diego FC’s ownership group and to be part of a club that celebrates creativity, culture, and the power of community. Football uniquely brings people together, and I look forward to helping build something special in San Diego, a city known for its diversity and innovation.”
