Reasons Why PDP Lost Presidential Election, By Wike

Rivers state governor Nyesom Wike has declared that bloated arrogance and impunity are the reasons why the People Democratic Party (PDP) lost the February 25, 2023 presidential election.

Wike who stated this during his appearance today on the Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily said that the PDP’s presidential flag bearer in the election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was already counting his chicks when they were not even hatched.

He added that the former vice president thought he had already won the presidential election, hence his reason for sticking with the embattled national chairman of the party, Senator Iyorchia Ayu despite the G-5 governors’ umpteenth agitations that the position of the chairmanship of the party be zoned to the Southern zone for equity and fairness sake, since the presidential candidate is from the Northern extraction.

“They thought they had won the election already, counting their chicks when they are not even hatched.

“Where are they today? Do they win? See impunity and arrogance simply made PDP lost the election.

“All we were saying is that the chairmanship of the party should be zoned to South. I have accused Ayu severally of corruption, collecting money from a particular governor, has he come out to openly debunked that or countered it?”

On the status of the PDP becoming a weak opposition because of several lingering crisis rocking it, Wike quickly quashed the impression, while also querying if taking guns against the ruling APC government is the definition of opposition.

He said he (Wike) personally has been a constant critic of the President Buhari led APC government.

He didn’t however fail to throw a thinly veiled jibe at the Labour Party (LP) who he said is not a proper opposition party.

He also questioned the LP’s impact after the presidential election, where its presidential candidate, Peter Obi garnered over six million votes in the presidential election, and won few national assembly seats particularly in the South Eastern region.
