Premier Records Gets New General Manager

The board of Premier Records limited, Nigeria’s foremost record label, has elected to make a bold stride in repositioning the company with the appointment of Mr. Michael Odiong as the company’s General Manager.

Odiion who steps into the office in acting capacity effective January 1, 2022, is expected to lead the management team to a new level, a statement by the company revealed.

According the the statement, Odiong started his career with Premier Records Limited in 2008 as head of projects and later Business development and has spent 14 years with the company. His experience in the music business industry will help the company set new targets and meet new goals.

Premier Records limited berthed in Nigeria in 1963 as Phillips (W.A) Records, and later metamorphosed into Phonogram, Polydor, Polygram and now Premier Records. It has released some of Nigeria’s biggest acts from such genres of music such as Highlife, Apala, Folktales, Reggae, Gospel, Fuji, Sakara.

Some of the known artistes under the label include Gentleman Mike Ejeagha, Paulson Kalu, late chief Stephen Osita Osadebe, and late Ras Kimono.

Others are, Oritz Williki, Alex O, Alex Zitto, Evi Edna Ogholi, Dele Bamgboye, Uche Ibeto, Bright Chimezie, and Mike Okri.

Included in the stable also are, late Dr. Victor Olaiya, late Sir. Victor Uwaifo, Bobby Benson, Yusuf Olatunji, Yemi Elemure, Junior and Pretty, as well as Fellxzy and Mozzxxyy among others.
