The Lawmakers in Ondo State House of Assembly have passed the anti-Open grazing, the judicial autonomy and violence against persons bill into law.
The anti-open grazing bill, when signed into law, will help to regulate security, rearing and grazing of livestock as well as establishment of ranches.
The bills provide for a law to provide for the management of fund accruing to the Ondo State Judiciary from the consolidated revenue fund of Ondo State to ensure accountability, transparency, effective and efficient utilization of the funds and1¹ a bill for a law to eliminate violence in private and public life, prohibit all forms of violence against person and to provide for maximum and effective remedies for victims and punishment of offenders and other related matters.
Violators of the anti-open grazing bill would be arrested and prosecuted by the Nigeria Police.
Presenting report on the anti-open grazing bill, Chairman House Committee on Agriculture, Honourable Taofeek Oladele, said the bill will prevent destruction of farm crops in the state.
Presenting the report on the bill on prohibition of violence against person, Honourable Akintomide Akinrogunde said it would reduce attacks on women, children and other vulnerable persons.
Ondo Deputy Speaker, Honourable Aderoboye Samuel Ademoye, who presented the judicial autonomy bill, said it would regulate management of funds in the judicial arm of government.
After thorough debate on the bills, motions were moved for their adoption and they were adopted through voice votes.
