Nigerian Deejay takes over Europe with Afro-beat

As Nigerian music gradually dominates streaming platforms globally, a Nigerian Deejay is making moves to take over Europe with Afro-beat.
The Nigerian born Deejay, Tosin Tellem, said his aim is to push forward Nigerian tunes which have achieved cross-over status in the United States.

Tellem, in a phone interview, said his zeal and dream is to ensure that this cross-over status is also achieved in non-English speaking parts of Europe like France, Belgium, Spain and others.

He said at a time when Nigerian Afro-beat and hip-hop is the new “cool”, even winning Grammy Awards and BET’s like a BLITZKERG, it is time the world and even Nigerians pay deeper attention to our artistes not just at home but those who are based in the Diaspora.

He added, “On the project for 2023 and beyond; my music will be tailored towards the fans and what they expect of me. Not many artistes the world over have in the core of their minds the yearnings of their fans.

“This project, going forward, is to appeal to the listening of not just Nigerians but Europeans and by further extension, the American market.”

His recent release titled: “Good Loving” and “Amsterdam Nights,” has over 10,000 streams on various streaming platforms such as Tidal, Apple music etc. This says a whole lot about the flavour of the song which is original to the Afro-beat core and still has the appeal to non-Africans, especially those in Europe.
