Luis Enrique Yamal plan centres on one key tactic: keeping possession away from Barcelona. The Paris Saint-Germain manager believes controlling the ball is the best way to limit Lamine Yamal ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash on Tuesday.
Enrique shared his thoughts during a pre-match press conference ahead of the encounter on October 20, 2026.
“The best way to stop Lamine Yamal is to keep the ball away from Barcelona,” the PSG manager told reporters.
“If he cannot get the ball, everything is calm. That would be ideal,” he added.
Luis Enrique Names Barcelona’s Biggest Threats
The PSG manager warned that his team must look beyond Yamal when preparing for the match. He also identified Raphinha and Pedri as important players who could trouble the French side.
“But it is not just Lamine. There are Raphinha and Pedri. There are a lot of top players,” Enrique said.
His comments underline the challenge PSG face against Barcelona’s attack. Limiting the supply of the ball could reduce Yamal’s opportunities, but Enrique acknowledged that Barcelona have several players capable of creating danger.
PSG and Barcelona Head Into Champions League Clash
Both teams arrive after impressive domestic wins.
PSG defeated Strasbourg 3-1 in Ligue 1 over the weekend. Barcelona also recorded a convincing result, beating Real Betis 5-2 away from home in La Liga.
The Champions League meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at the Parc des Princes in Paris. Enrique will hope his side can control possession and restrict Barcelona’s attacking opportunities.
However, the PSG manager recognises that stopping Yamal alone will not be enough. Raphinha, Pedri and Barcelona’s other attacking players will also demand close attention.
