Lagos monarch, Oba Buari Oloto is dead

Popular Lagos monarch and socialite who has been dominating the Lagos social scene for over 40 years, His Royal Highness Buari Alade Ishola Oloto is dead.

Until his death, he was the monarch of Iguru, Iguruland, Aguda Surulere, Lagos. Iguruland ascribed the origin of Aworis witnessed the ascension of a monarch for the first time since 19th century.

The late Oloto was installed as the Oba of Iguruland, Aguda, Surulere, Lagos last September.
He was said to be 80.
Oba Oloto, popularly known as Buhari Oloto and later called Abu Oloto, was a popular figure in the Lagos social scene for over 40 years.
His death was confirmed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Vice Chairman, Lagos Central Senatorial District, Hakeem Bamgbola.
It was learnt the monarch died at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja.

Iguruland is in Aguda Surulere and it is the first time they will be having a king since the 19th century. Iguruland is reputed to be the origin of many Aworis in Surulere, Lagos.

The late Oba Buari Oloto, was the CEO of Abu Oloto Investment and an acclaimed music promoter and real estate merchant.

His palace, a white luxurious mansion known as Castle of Peace in Aguda, Surulere, Lagos has been witnessing a human traffic of sympathizers since the news of his death filtered into town.
He is survived by his wife, Iya Oyo, equally a matriarch of the Lagos social scene and many children.
