Ekiti commissioner nominees are awaiting legislative approval after Governor Biodun Oyebanji asked the State House of Assembly to confirm three commissioners for reappointment and approve 10 Special Advisers.
The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti. He said Oyebanji sent the request to Assembly Speaker Adeoye Aribasoye in a letter dated Monday.
The three Ekiti commissioner nominees served during Oyebanji’s first term. They are Dayo Apata, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice; Akintunde Oyebode, Commissioner for Finance; and Oyebanji Filani, Commissioner for Health and Human Services.
Ekiti Commissioner Nominees Await Assembly Screening
Oyebanji asked lawmakers to screen and confirm the three nominees for another term in their respective positions.
Their return would maintain leadership in three key areas of the state government: justice, finance and healthcare. However, the Assembly must complete its screening and confirmation process before they can resume their roles.
The governor also requested approval for 10 Special Advisers. These appointments are intended to support his administration as it carries out its programmes and policy priorities.
The Assembly’s decision will determine whether the three Ekiti commissioner nominees return to their portfolios. The 10 proposed advisers must also receive the required legislative approval.
Oyebanji Continues Second-Term Appointments
Oyebanji began his second term on October 16. Since then, his administration has approved appointments in the power, road infrastructure and transportation sectors.
The latest request marks another step in forming his team for the new term. Filling key positions could help the government coordinate its activities and pursue its development plans across Ekiti State.
The proposed appointments cover both established ministries and advisory roles. The commissioners would oversee their respective portfolios, while the Special Advisers would provide support to the governor on assigned responsibilities.
The Assembly’s screening and confirmation process remains central to the next stage of the appointments.
