EASTER CELEBRATION: Lagos, Ogun FRSC Assure Motorists Of Free Movement On Highways

The Lagos and Ogun states Command of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has partnered with  Federal Ministry of Works to ensure free movement on all the critical corridors especially Lagos-Ibadan expressway during the Easter celebration.Lagos State Sector Commander, Olusegun Ogungbemide and his Ogun counterpart CC Ahmed Umar urged sought the corperation of the motorists with the traffic management during the celebration period.The FRSC chiefs also inspected the level of work at the construction site on Lagos-Ibadan expressway and it was unanimously agreed that all diversions at the constructions spots be opened from Thursday 14th April till Tuesday 19th April, 2022 for easy and seamless movement of motorists as there would be high influx of vehicles traveling in and out of Lagos and Ogun during the festive season.Speaking after the inspection with the Federal Ministry of Works, led by Engineer Adeboye, CC Ogungbemide used the opportunity to inform the public that FRSC is ready to provide the necessary safety and traffic control needed by motorists during the Easter special patrol as over 2000 personnels (both Regular and Special Marshals), 57 patrol vehicles, 8 Bikes, 3 Ambulances, 2 Tow trucks, 7 Breathalyzers has deployed on major highways in the state to monitor, control traffic, and clear obstructions along critical route during the Easter Special Patrol exercise.He said the Special patrol, involving regular and special marshals, has kicked off since yesterday– Wednesday 13th April, 2022 till Wednesday 20th April, 2022 and it has directed to focus on Overloading, Speed limit violation; tyre violation; light sign violation; Dangerous driving; Wrongful overtaking; Lane indiscipline; Use of phone while driving; Seat belt violation ; Overloading violation; Unlatched vehicles violation; Child restraint violation; Passengers manifest violation by commercial vehicles and Use of drugs and intoxicating alcoholic beverages while driving.Ogun State Commander, CC Umar also said a total of 1,500 personnel comprising Regular and Special Marshals have been mobilised and deployed to oversee traffic activities on highways across Ogun state especially on  Lagos-Ibadan; Sagamu-Ijebu Ode; Sagamu-Mosinmi-Ikorodu; Abeokuta-Sagamu; Abeokuta-Ibadan; Abeokuta-Ifo-Sango-Ota-Lagos Corridors, as well as the  Ota-Idiroko international corridor.The Commanders admonished road users to play their role by obeying traffic rules and also cooperate with the FRSC officials and sister agencies along the critical corridors in ensuring free flow of traffic and a crash free celebration”.They appealed to the public to always call the FRSC toll free number 122 in case of any emergency on the highway.
