Lagos State lawmaker and actor Desmond Elliot has renewed his apology to Femi Gbajabiamila, seeking to resolve their differences following tensions linked to the last All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election.
Elliot made the appeal during a meeting with Gbajabiamila and other party leaders. In a video shared by Lagos Junction on X on Sunday, the Surulere Constituency I representative was seen kneeling and prostrating before the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.
Elliot Appeals for Forgiveness
While apologising, Elliot admitted that he might have been misguided during the political disagreement. He expressed deep regret and promised to renew his loyalty to the party’s leadership.
“I’m sorry. I have no excuse; I have nothing other than to say I’m deeply sorry,” Elliot said. “In our culture, we prostrate. Don’t be angry, Daddy.”
Gbajabiamila later asked the lawmaker to stand up.
The latest reconciliation effort marks another attempt by Desmond Elliot to mend relations with Gbajabiamila. Months earlier, Elliot had appealed to the former Speaker of the House of Representatives during an appearance on TVC’s Your View.
At the time, the lawmaker described Gbajabiamila as his political mentor and said any misunderstanding between them was not intentional.
Political Dispute Behind Reconciliation Effort
Elliot’s renewed apology comes against the backdrop of tensions within the Lagos APC over the leadership of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Gbajabiamila had previously claimed that intelligence reports connected Elliot to moves surrounding the Assembly speakership dispute and alleged that the development nearly cost him his position at the Presidency.
Elliot denied the allegation.
The crisis was later addressed through interventions by senior party leaders. His latest public apology is now being viewed as another effort to restore his relationship with Gbajabiamila and other APC stakeholders in Lagos.
