Afrobeats star Davido and billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote have been spotted together in New York City during the United Nations General Assembly week.
The pair attracted attention in Times Square as they stood beneath a huge Nasdaq digital billboard promoting the public share offering of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals.
Davido, Dangote Make Appearance in New York
The meeting brought together two prominent Nigerian figures from the entertainment and business sectors.
Photos from the outing showed Davido and Dangote posing together on a New York street while the refinery advertisement flashed above them. The billboard carried the message, “Made in Nigeria. Built for the World.”
The Davido and Dangote appearance comes as the refinery’s public share offer continues to attract attention in Nigeria and beyond.
The offer involves 4.1 billion ordinary shares priced at ₦525 each. The subscription period runs from September 14 to October 13, 2026.
Investors can subscribe for a minimum of 10 shares, valued at ₦5,250, giving members of the public an opportunity to participate in the offering.
Longstanding Family Connection
Beyond the business campaign, Davido and Dangote share a longstanding family relationship.
Dangote has been associated with the Adeleke family for decades. He has also previously spoken about his connection to Davido’s family, including his role in taking the singer home from the hospital after his birth.
Their latest appearance in Times Square offered another public glimpse of that longstanding relationship.
Davido and Dangote also drew attention with their contrasting styles during the outing. The singer wore a long dark coat over a white shirt and black trousers, while Dangote opted for a grey patterned suit and light blue shirt.
The Davido and Dangote moment in New York has since generated interest online, combining Nigerian entertainment, business and the international promotion of a major home-grown industrial project.
