Court orders slaughtering of noisy cockerel in Kano
Acourt in Kano has ordered a man to kill his noisy cockerel following a neighbour’s complaint about the deprivation of sleep due to cock’s constant crowing.
The judge, Haalima Wali, gave the owner of the cockerel, Malam Yusuf, till Friday to ensure it is slaughtered.
Wali gave the order after declaring the bird a nuisance to the neighbourhood.
However, Yusuf pleaded with the court to allow him till until the Christian Holy day to get rid of the bird.
He explained he bought the cockerel so that he could kill and enjoy it with with family in celebration of Good Friday.
Wali granted Yusuf’s wish, stressing he should butcher the bird on Friday as promised or face a penalty from the court.
