Nollywood comedian Broda Shaggi has opened up about his recovery from a stray bullet injury that kept him away from work for months and left him worried about his future in entertainment.

The actor, whose real name is Samuel Perry, shared his experience in a YouTube video posted on Wednesday night. He explained how the incident affected his health, career and emotional well-being.

The Broda Shaggi injury occurred in March 2026 while he was filming a comedy skit under the Sango-Ota bridge in Ogun State.

Shaggi said he was carrying out a routine brand activation assignment when a stray bullet struck him. He recalled losing consciousness before arriving at the hospital.

“I was totally unconscious till I got to the hospital. So, I didn’t even know how we got to the hospital,” he said.

The comedian added that he remembered praying while those around him rushed him to a hospital, where medical workers administered first aid.

Broda Shaggi Injury Left Him Fearing for His Career

Shaggi said the incident triggered serious fears about his ability to continue working. His career involves dancing, singing, drumming and other physical performances.

He wondered how he would return to these activities if his injured leg failed to recover fully.

The comedian also described the emotional strain of spending months away from his regular work schedule. He said he had remained busy since 2018, constantly writing scripts, filming skits, recording music and travelling for engagements.

That sudden break made him fear that fans might forget him while he was away from the screen.

“There were moments where I would see videos of my colleagues. I would laugh and sometimes I would just start to cry because I wasn’t sure if I would still be able to do all these things they doing again,” he said.

Despite his worries, Shaggi tried to remain productive during his hospitalisation. He continued writing and started a YouTube series while focusing on his recovery.

Comedian Travels to Dubai for Further Treatment

The actor said he initially underwent surgery in Nigeria. However, he was advised to undergo further treatment and physiotherapy.

After about four months, he decided to travel to Dubai for additional medical care.

According to Shaggi, his recovery improved after the operation in Dubai. He said he was able to stand with support on the second day and walk with crutches on the third day.

Reflecting on the Broda Shaggi injury, the comedian expressed gratitude that the bullet struck his hip rather than his head or another vital organ.

He described surviving the incident as a second chance at life.

Shaggi said he can now stand without crutches, although he still uses them for support as he continues to recover.

He recalled a time when he could not place his injured leg on the floor or move without using both crutches.

The comedian thanked his supporters and urged fans to anticipate his return to the screen.

“I’m grateful to be alive. It’s second chance. You should also be grateful to have Shaggy back on your screen because right now I’m coming with exciting projects,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command had earlier said it could not confirm whether the shooting occurred within the state. Its spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information while investigations continued.
