President Bola Tinubu has secured the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections after recording a landslide victory in the party’s nationwide direct primary election.
Results announced at the Presidential Primary Election Committee collation centre in Abuja showed Tinubu defeating fellow aspirant Stanley Osifo by a massive margin across the country’s 8,809 wards and the Federal Capital Territory.
According to the final figures, Tinubu polled 10,999,967 votes, while Osifo received 16,504 votes nationwide, reaffirming the President’s strong influence within the ruling party.
The collation took place at the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, where governors from 31 states and other top APC officials submitted results from their respective states. The exercise was supervised by the committee chaired by former Senate President Pius Anyim.
Tinubu dominated the South-West region, winning heavily in states regarded as APC strongholds. He secured 814,988 votes in Lagos, 322,485 in Ogun, 181,996 in Ondo, 142,754 in Oyo, 100,888 in Osun, and 85,340 in Ekiti. Osifo recorded only a few votes across the zone.
The President also posted strong numbers in the North-West, including 618,914 votes in Kaduna, 500,852 in Kano, 467,003 in Katsina, and over 300,000 votes in Sokoto and Zamfara.
In the North-Central region, Tinubu maintained a clear lead with impressive results from Benue, Kwara, Plateau, Nasarawa, Niger, and Kogi, while the FCT delivered 36,103 votes in his favour.
The South-East and South-South regions equally produced significant support for the President. Tinubu won decisively in states such as Imo, Enugu, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Bayelsa, while Osifo managed only scattered votes in a few areas.
With the outcome, Tinubu officially becomes the APC’s flagbearer for the 2027 presidential election.
