Adire Festival 2021: Ogun state, partners step up preparations

The preparations for Ogun State Festival 2021: A Celebration of Adire; Arts & Crafts And Ofada Rice received a massive boost over the weekend when the State”s Ministry of Culture and Tourism hosted her partners and stakeholders in a meeting and State tour.

The event slated for the last quarter of the year in Dallas, Texas is a brainchild of the Ministry and JIMSON GLOBAL SERVICES, SAUBANA MULTI-GLOBAL VENTURES, FRITOTS GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS (PTY) LTD and CREATIVE VILLAGE PRODUCTIONS. With all parties represented by the arrowheads, intricate fetails about the week-long event were discussed and strategies were put in place concerning the modus operandi.

The Honorable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Toyin Taiwo emphasises the need to reintroduce the Gateway State – and what she stands for – to Nigerians in the diaspora and the Global Village. The investment opportunities, tourism potentials and the prospects of bilateral relationship with the culturally rich State of Ogun is an underexplored so the planned exposé on the Adire (tie and dye), the locally cultivated Ofada rice and other artistic products which are identities of the State will be the focal point of the organisers. He went further to reiterate the commitment of His Excellency Governor . Dapo Abiodun(MFR) government to Arts, Culture and Tourism and the decision to work with a formidable team of partners with proven track record on this project of putting the State’s uncharted course on Global display.

Alongside Dr. Toyin Taiwo: Honorable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, the other stakeholders and partners actively involved were Oluwabukola Aderonke Tokunbo-Peters: Director of Tourism Development and Promotion; Oluwaseye Abodunrin Adeyemo: Director of Culture; Olayemi Victoria Osilaja: Director of Administration and Supplies; Jimoh Sakiru Abiodun: Jimson Global Services; Saubana Bello Moruff: Saubana Multi Global Ventures; Omooba Adesoji Oluwasanya Talabi JP: Fritots Global Communications (PTY) Ltd and Olanrewaju Olakanlu: Creative Village Productions.

In the course of the meeting and tour, visits were made to historical and important landmarks around Ogun State. Hall of fame at June 12 Cultural Center, Kuti Heritage Museum, First Church in Nigeria, Ake; Centenary Hall, Ake; Sacred Heart Hospital, Itesi; Palace of Alake, Adire International Market and Olumo Rock Tourist Complex, Ikija were visited with the help of Abdulsalam Abdulrazaq Olaniyi, the formidable tour guide.
