Billionaire businessman Deji Adeleke has contributed ₦500 million to the Osun State Security Trust Fund, unveiled by Governor Ademola Adeleke in Osogbo.
The announcement was made on Thursday during the official launch of the fund, with the state government also committing ₦300 million as initial support. According to a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, several private sector players also made financial contributions to the initiative.
Governor Adeleke explained that the fund is aimed at improving security infrastructure across the state. He noted that plans are underway to deploy refurbished Armoured Personnel Carriers and new patrol vehicles to enhance the operational capacity of security agencies.
Describing the initiative as a strategic and people-focused policy, the governor emphasized that the trust fund would provide sustainable financing for modern security systems. This includes the establishment of a central Situation Room equipped with real-time CCTV surveillance, as well as the continuous supply of essential tools for security personnel.
He further assured residents that the fund, which is backed by law, would be managed with transparency, accountability, and strict adherence to due process.
Also speaking at the event, Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, stated that the launch marks the full activation of the fund’s enabling law originally passed in 2012. Meanwhile, the fund’s Secretary, Femi Oyedipe, called on stakeholders to support the initiative, stressing its importance in tackling security challenges and strengthening law enforcement capacity in the state.
