Abuja-Kaduna Expressway Kidnapping: Police Officer Rescued After Abduction

Swift Response by FCT Police Leads to the Safe Return of Chief Superintendent Ojiebe

by Folawi Titilayo

In a recent report, counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama revealed that assailants had robbed Modestus Ojiebe, a Chief Superintendent of Police, and his wife along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway. The attackers searched the couple, taking their mobile phones and ATM cards. However, when they discovered Ojiebe’s police identity card, they forcibly abducted him, leaving his wife and their vehicle behind at the scene.

Fortunately, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command confirmed that Ojiebe had been rescued. In a statement issued by Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer for the FCT, it was announced that the officer had been safely returned to his family. “The victim has been rescued and successfully reunited with his family,” she stated.

Adeh further confirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the assailants, who had abandoned Ojiebe in the bush area of Garaku, Nasarawa State. Following the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Dawaki swiftly mobilized his patrol team, immediately alerting police checkpoints and securing all key entry and exit points into the Federal Capital Territory.

This rapid and decisive response played a crucial role in the successful rescue of Chief Superintendent Ojiebe. Remarkably, the officer was reunited with his family on the very same night of the incident.
