Speaking in a candid interview with journalist Chude Jideonwo, media personality and former TVC Entertainment boss, Morayo Afolabi-Brown, explained why she stood firmly behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2023 general elections. She revealed that her choice was shaped by family loyalty and gratitude for his intervention during one of the most painful chapters of her life.

She disclosed that when her father, the late Alao Aka-Bashorun, a former Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) president and one of the country’s foremost human rights activists, fell critically ill years ago, Tinubu—then governor of Lagos State—stepped in to shoulder the family’s burden.

At the time, Tinubu reportedly took responsibility for the huge medical bills and ensured her father received proper treatment. Afolabi-Brown also recalled how the current president extended support to her mother when the family needed it most.

“For me, it was a personal story,” she said. “When my father was ill, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was there. He paid the bills, he supported my mum, and he stood by us. So yes, I voted for him because we have a history.”

E247mag reports that the respected broadcaster, who built a reputation as one of the faces of TVC’s flagship programmes before moving on to new ventures, stressed that her political choice was not based on partisanship but on appreciation for a debt her family could never forget.
