VeryDarkMan Slams Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid Over Luxury Car Purchases Amid Economic Crisis
Controversial Nigerian social media, VeryDarkMan, has publicly criticized Afrobeats superstars Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid for their recent extravagant car purchases, calling them out for what he described as insensitivity to the economic challenges faced by ordinary Nigerians.
Burna Boy recently made headlines as the first African to acquire the newly released McLaren Sienna. Just hours later, Davido reportedly purchased a 2026 Mercedes Maybach SL 680 valued at over ₦1.2 billion. This comes only a few months after Wizkid was said to have acquired a luxury car worth ₦1.7 billion.
In a now-viral Instagram video, VeryDarkMan condemned the trio’s lavish spending, stating that it reflects a lack of awareness and empathy for their fans and the broader Nigerian populace struggling under harsh economic conditions.
“Yesterday, I saw the news that Burna Boy bought a ₦3.5 billion car. The same day, Davido bought a car worth over ₦1 billion. They’ve been doing this repeatedly,” he said.
Questioning their contributions to society, he continued: “The question I have for Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido is — don’t you read the room? Are you not aware of the situation in Nigeria? You’re not the government, but I have to speak. Davido, you’re my guy, but what can you boldly say you’ve done for the people of Osun State, your home?”
VeryDarkMan, who is known to be an associate of Davido, accused the singer of only showing interest in Osun State during his uncle’s gubernatorial campaign, alleging that Davido’s engagement with his community has been minimal since then.
“You have benefited from Nigeria and from your fans. What have your fans benefited from you in return?” he asked, questioning the social impact of their success.
His remarks have sparked debate across social media, with many Nigerians expressing mixed reactions—some defending the artistes.
