A group of supporters of Atiku Abubakar, from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, were attacked in Rivers state by alleged political thugs. Three injured are currently undergoing medical care in an unidentified facility.
The victims were PDP Presidential Campaign Council Coordinator in Omuma Local Government Area Nnamdi Nwogu and Udochukwu Nwakpala, who was allegedly shot.
They were allegedly beaten on Sunday while pasting Atiku campaign posters in the Eberi neighborhood.
Nwogu reported that more than 30 adolescents wielding machetes and firearms pounced on five of the victims, who all got life-threatening machete cuts on various areas of their bodies.
SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the Rivers Command’s police public relations officer, has not yet commented on the development.
