Shiroro killing : FG vows justice on perpetrators, bans mining activities
The Federal Government has condemned the brutal killing of 12 miners by bandits in Shiroro, Niger State, and pledged to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, announced a ban on mining at the attack scene until investigations are concluded.
Security agencies, including Mining Marshals and intelligence units, are collaborating to track and apprehend the bandits.
Dr. Alake warned that combating banditry in the mining sector is a top priority, and those involved will face severe consequences.
Preliminary reports suggest non-Nigerians are funding these operations, and Dr. Alake cautioned embassies to monitor their nationals’ activities in the mining sector.
The government vows to prosecute individuals found guilty of economic sabotage and waging war against the Nigerian State.
