Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Rhodes-Vivour, who recently defected from the Labour Party to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), dismissed any speculation about forming an alliance with Tinubu. According to him, politics should be about service to the people and restoring Lagos to its former glory, not about consolidating power for selfish reasons.

“I would rather focus on my business, my work and my family than join such an alignment. It would be a complete waste of time,” he stated firmly, adding that his political vision is to empower Lagosians through grassroots-driven leadership.

The former governorship hopeful also revealed that his move to the ADC had the blessing of Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi. He noted that Obi was fully aware of his defection, with a representative present during his formal declaration, signalling a united opposition front ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Explaining his choice of the ADC, Rhodes-Vivour said he was convinced that the party offers a more stable and structured platform at the grassroots level, free of internal distractions that had plagued his former party.
