IYD 2024: Kano Civil Society Forum Seeks More Empowerment Opportunities for Youths

The Kano Civil Society Forum (KCSF) has called on the government to prioritize initiatives and programs aimed at improving the livelihoods of the teaming youth populace. The Forum has equally sought more opportunities and a conducive atmosphere where youths can showcase and develop their potential.

The President of KCSF, Mohammed Bello, made this call in a statement made available to newsmen as part of the event to celebrate the 2024 International Youth Day.

With the theme: “Fostering a Sustainable Future through Youth Empowerment: Development of Tomorrow’s Essential Skills”, the annual event is aimed at commemorating the youths and deliberating on ways how to improve their lives globally.

According to Mr. Bello, with over 60% of the population under 25, Nigeria’s youths are key drivers of innovation, economic growth, and social change.

He therefore tasked the government to roll out measures in uplifting their lives towards ensuring overall national development.

Additionally, he reiterates the Forum’s commitment to implementing programs targeted at building the capacity of youths.

He said: “As we celebrate International Youth Day 2024, let us recognize the incredible potential of Nigeria’s youth and reaffirm our commitment to empowering them for sustainable development.

“By investing in youth education, employment, and health, we can harness their energy and creativity to build a prosperous future for our nation.

” KCSF therefore calls for increased collaboration between civil society, government, and the private sector to create more opportunities for young people which includes; providing access to quality education and skills training, promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, ensuring decent work and livelihood opportunities and addressing issues of gender equality and social inclusion among others.

“The youth of Nigeria are not just the leaders of tomorrow, but the change-makers of today as such it is our responsibility to support them in shaping a better future for all.”

The President stated that the KCSF will be hosting a series of events and initiatives in due course to empower young people and amplify their voices.
