Former senator Iyabo Obasanjo has reaffirmed her intention to run for the Ogun State governorship in 2027 following a recent meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos.

Speaking after the engagement, Obasanjo described the discussion as meaningful and forward-thinking, noting that it centered on governance, leadership, and national as well as state development.

She expressed appreciation to the President for his guidance and dedication to democratic growth, adding that consultations ahead of the 2027 elections are ongoing.

Obasanjo, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), emphasized her long-standing involvement in Ogun State politics, stating that her experience gives her a solid understanding of the needs and expectations of the people.

Highlighting her agenda, she pointed to key areas such as education, healthcare, and youth employment as priorities if elected. She stressed the need for leadership that is deeply connected to the people and committed to economic transformation.

The governorship hopeful also underscored her vision of a state where young people have access to jobs, schools nurture future leaders, and healthcare systems adequately serve citizens.

She aims to succeed incumbent governor Dapo Abiodun, pledging inclusive development and improved living standards across all parts of Ogun State.
