Asika said the absence of unity among top Afrobeats acts has limited the genre’s international impact. He pointed to Latin music as an example of how strategic partnerships — involving stars like Bad Bunny, J Balvin, and Nicky Jam — have helped elevate the genre worldwide.

He maintained that a similar approach within Afrobeats could drive stronger global traction and higher ticket value at international shows. “Afrobeats would have been bigger if Davido, Wizkid, and the others were collaborating. I might be wrong, but the probability of the genre being more successful is very high,” he said.
