Apostle Toba Oke, the former two-term Chairman of Ifako Ijaye Local Government Area in Lagos State, has passed away.
Oke, a close ally of President Bola Tinubu, died at 64 after battling diabetes. As of Sunday, details about his death remained scarce. A dedicated member of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Oke was also a founding member of the Southwest Agenda for Asiwaju, a political group that supported Tinubu’s rise to the presidency.
Although Oke briefly faced suspension during his tenure as chairman, he made a return to office and had been managing an undisclosed health condition. Before entering politics, Oke worked with African Independent Television (AIT) and was once affiliated with veteran musician Sir Shina Peters during the ‘Asiko Youth’ movement.
Oke is remembered for his significant contributions to Ifako/Ijaiye, particularly the construction of the council’s secretariat at Idiagbon Bus Stop along College Road, Ogba, which he oversaw before passing on leadership to his successor.
