The Alaafin Ikubabayeye today played host to two distinguished traditional rulers — the Olu of Warri and the Ogunsua of Modákẹ́kẹ́ — in a visit that reinforced the deep historical and cultural ties between the Yoruba and Warri kingdoms.

The meeting highlighted the shared royal heritage between the Alaafin of Oyo and the Olu of Warri, tracing their lineage to the legendary Yoruba prince, Oranmiyan. The occasion served as a symbolic gesture to strengthen the enduring connection between both royal houses.

During the visit, emphasis was placed on the importance of unity among all descendants of Odùduwà, the revered progenitor of the Yoruba people. The monarchs jointly called for peace, cooperation, and mutual progress between the Warri and broader Yoruba communities.

The Olu of Warri was accompanied by key members of his royal court, including Chief Brown Mene, the Ogwaolusan of Warri; Chief Temisan Grant, the Aguraotiri of Warri; and Chief Kofi Kartey, the Abolujiyan of Warri.

This historic gathering not only celebrated shared ancestry but also underscored the need for renewed cultural collaboration and solidarity across the southwestern and Niger Delta regions of Nigeria.
