Renowned Nigerian music legend and Technical Adviser to the Governor of Benue State on Entertainment and Community Outreach, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has described the ongoing violence and killings in Benue State as a national emergency.

In a heartfelt video broadcast, 2Baba expressed deep sorrow, anger, and frustration over the recurring attacks in various parts of the state, calling on all Benue stakeholders to rise above politics and personal interests to find a lasting solution.

“My heart is heavy. I am terribly sad and angry,” he said. “What is happening in Benue State has become a national emergency. I can’t wrap my head around it anymore. I don’t even know what to say at this point. This has to stop.”

The singer lamented the lack of decisive action, saying the situation has gone beyond mere verbal condemnations.

“My sadness, my anger, my frustration—it’s overwhelming that this keeps happening over and over again. This is no longer something we can just condemn in words. Serious action needs to be taken,” he emphasized.

Idibia urged community leaders, political figures, and all relevant stakeholders in Benue State to unite in the face of tragedy, stressing that collaborative effort is the only path toward peace.

“Every stakeholder in Benue must join hands. We can end this. I believe there is a solution,” he said.

The statement comes amid a wave of violent attacks in rural communities across Benue, which have claimed numerous lives and displaced hundreds. Despite repeated government interventions, the crisis continues to fester, drawing criticism from concerned citizens and rights groups alike.

Idibia’s emotional appeal is seen as a rallying call not only to Benue residents but also to the entire nation to pay closer attention to the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the state.
