Oba Owoade expressed his readiness to collaborate with ỌYÀSI in advancing and preserving the rich cultural heritage and values of the Yoruba people. He emphasized that the Yoruba race is uniquely endowed with vibrant traditions and a distinctive cultural identity.
Earlier in the visit, ỌYÀSI Chairman, Mr. Ọlawale Ajao, stated that the purpose of the visit was to formally introduce the organization to the monarch.
“ỌYÀSI is a registered initiative under the Corporate Affairs Commission,” Ajao noted. “One of our key projects is the proposed annual ‘World Head-dress Day’, which aims to achieve international recognition for traditional head-dresses. Our goal is for UNESCO to designate a specific day for this global celebration.”
He further highlighted that the head-dress celebration seeks to spotlight the cultural and symbolic significance of head-dresses across various tribes worldwide. According to him, the annual event holds great potential to stimulate the cultural economy of Yorubaland and Nigeria as a whole.
Ultimately, the organization is focused on promoting Yoruba cultural heritage and showcasing it on a global stage.
