Representing the EFCC, Counsel Ms. Fadila Yusuf filed an ex-parte motion seeking the detention of suspects while ongoing investigations into alleged financial crimes are concluded, with the possibility of prosecution. The EFCC urged the court to issue an order remanding the defendants in the custody of the complainant/applicant pending the completion of the investigation and any potential prosecution.

The motion was presented to the Federal High Court in Abuja, where, on Thursday, Justice Emeka Nwite granted the EFCC’s request to detain six individuals—Adefowora Abiodun Olanipekun, Adefowora Oluwanisola, Emmanuel Uko, Seyi Oloyede, Avwerosuo Otorudo, and Chukwuebuka Ehirim—designated as the 1st to 6th defendants.

In his ruling, Justice Nwite stated: “I have considered the submissions of learned counsel for the applicant, EFCC, as well as the affidavit evidence, supporting exhibits, and written address. I find merit in the application and grant it as requested.”

The EFCC has successfully secured legal authorization to arrest and detain six individuals linked to the controversial investment platform, Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX). Ms. Yusuf further explained that “the defendants are currently at large, and a warrant of arrest is essential to ensure a comprehensive investigation and subsequent prosecution.”
