The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) announced the ban on Thursday, labeling the song as inappropriate and offensive.

Reacting to the development in a video shared on his social media page, VDM revealed his plans to sponsor a new music video for the song. He said, “I went to Eedris Abdulkareem’s page and saw the message from NBC informing him that his song, ‘Tell Your Papa,’ has been banned. In the song, he tells Seyi Tinubu—son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu—to inform his father about the hardship in the country and how people are suffering and dying.”

He continued, “Here’s what we’re going to do now: first of all, radio and TV don’t even matter anymore—how many people actually still use them? That’s beside the point. We’re going to take over with social media.”

VDM pledged full support for Eedris Abdulkareem, announcing plans to remake the video: “Dear Eedris Abdulkareem, we’re going to shoot a new video. This time, we’ll sponsor it. I’ll be in the video myself. We’ll even find a lookalike of Tinubu since we obviously can’t have the President appear in it. We’re going to remake ‘Tell Your Papa.’”

He reaffirmed his commitment to standing with Abdulkareem and ensuring the message of the song reaches a wider audience despite the official ban.
